​What’s the Matter? Experimenting with Oobleck

What's a Non-Newtonian fluid? Join us to find out.

Get ready to squish, squeeze, mix, mold, and make a marvelous mess!  Is it a liquid? Is it a solid? Why not both?! In this hands-on sensory science adventure, we’ll explore the weird and wonderful world of cornstarch and Non-Newtonian fluids.

Participants will get their hands into the science as we investigate the unique texture of cornstarch, whip up a batch of wonderfully wacky Oobleck, and create delightfully soft and fluffy cloud dough to squish, shape, and explore.

 

Along the way, we’ll experiment with how these materials behave and discover why sometimes matter doesn’t quite follow the rules we expect! Come curious. Get messy. Make discoveries.

Sensory Note: This program is delightfully messy! Participants will encounter a variety of textures, including powdery, squishy, soft, and sticky materials.

Slime Lab: Choose 3!

Duration: 1 hour
Price: $400+ (Price varies based on slime choices and materials.)

Ages: All ages; adults responsible for supervising their children. Do not eat.

Get ready to stretch it, squish it, fluff it, glow it, and even make it MAGNETIC! Welcome to the ultimate Slime Lab, where we’ll make and experiment with THREE seriously cool varieties of slime!

Number of Participants: Up to 18; additional participants $5 each.

• 🌡️ Thermochromic Slime – Watch your slime magically change color with temperature!

• 🌟 Glow-in-the-Dark Slime – Charge it up, turn down the lights, and watch it GLOW!

• ☁️ Fluffy Slime – Soft, stretchy, airy, and oh-so-satisfying to squish!

• 🧲 Magnetic Slime – Slime that MOVES! Experiment with magnetic materials and watch your slime stretch, creep, and react to a magnet.

As we mix and create, we’ll explore the fun behind slime and discover how different ingredients can completely change its texture, appearance, and behavior. It’s part science experiment, part slime laboratory, and a whole lot of gooey, stretchy fun!

Sensory Note: This program gets wonderfully gooey! Participants will handle sticky, stretchy, squishy, slimy, and foamy materials. May not come out of clothes.

Booking & Pricing Note: Three slime varieties must be selected in advance when booking so we can prepare the appropriate specialty materials. Programs range from $400- $450, with final pricing based on the number of participants.

Giant Bubble Bonanza!

Duration: 1 hour

Ages: ALL AGES WELCOME!

Get ready to dip, swoosh, stretch, and POP your way into some seriously BIG bubble fun!

There’s something about giant bubbles that brings out the kid in everyone! This playful, hands-on experience is just as joyful for teens and adults as it is for children—making it a great choice for family events, community gatherings, teen programs, adult groups, and multigenerational events.

We’ll break out the giant wands and plenty of our "secret" bubble solution and see just how enormous our bubbles can get! Create huge, shimmering bubbles that float through the air, wobble in the wind, twist into wild shapes, and—of course—eventually go POP! Parents love making them, kids love chasing and popping them. 

​

Can you make a bubble bigger than your head? Bigger than YOU? There’s only one way to find out!

​

This program is all about moving, experimenting, laughing, playing, and experiencing the simple joy of making something GIANT and mesmerizingly colorful.

​

Kids love it. Teens get into it. Adults can’t resist it.

Dip it. Swoosh it. Make it GIANT. POP! Repeat!

Sensory and Program note: This program is designed for outdoor use and requires an appropriate open space. Participants may get wet and soapy—come ready for some wonderfully messy bubble fun! Can be slippery.

Class Details

• Duration: Most programs are approximately 1 hour, depending on the activity.

• Participants: Ages and group sizes vary by program, and many activities can be adapted for different age groups.

Group Size

• Most programs are designed for up to 18 participants, allowing us to provide a more engaging, hands-on experience.

Materials & Supplies

• Material and supply costs may be additional depending on the program, number of participants, and specialty materials required. Any additional costs will be discussed in advance.

Travel

• Programs located more than 10 miles from Salem, MA are subject to a travel fee starting at $25, based on distance.

• We Bring the Experience to You!

• We take care of the planning, preparation, setup, instruction, and cleanup—so you can enjoy a creative, memorable experience right alongside your participants.

 

Deposit: A 30% deposit is due 4 weeks before the class or event begins to secure your booking. Cancellations accepted at least 2 weeks before the planned event. Deposit will not be returned if cancelling with less than 2 weeks notice.
